Emergency! Emergency!
This is not a drill people!
ARGH!!!!!!
Thats right. You guessed it. My darned computer has been... Infected.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOO!
And not just infected. Noooo... It is totally over run and in threat of dying...(Okay I may be exagerrating but still, this is very serious!)
I discovered this sad revelation after dinner... Woe is me!
So. I went on an all out OFFENSIVE!
While all this orderly chaos ran amok on my screen, I decided now was as good a time as any to rid my PC of software I have intended to delete for months and rearrange everything to its rightful hard drive and folders.

WHHHHHHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EEEEEEEEEE!
It was rather fun. O.O
Luckily, it seems I caused no permanent or negative damage to my system. The only problem I encountered was when I attempted to play my Pride & Prejudice (BBC edition) an error message kept popping up.
O_O Let me tell you now. I am an amatuer Techie (at best) so this SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO freaked me out! For a full 5 minutes I was certain I had destroyed my system. The message went :
ERROR! xvidcore.dll not detected! (multiple times!)
I hyperventilated on the floor close to tears until logic kicked in. Or rather Kicked me in the head. Ouch! Since my FireFox showed no signs of trouble, I went online and googled xvidcore.dll and what do you know? It was as my logic suspected-a codec. There was a lovely site that offered the download for free with simple and exact instructions ( the only kind I can follow ><" ) of how to install it and WALA! My Pride and Prejudice is back in business! Yay!
Then... I went on explorer (which I am 99.9% CERTAIN was where the evil things came from!) to see whether there were anymore signs of infection lurking after all my efforts of killing it...
Then LO AND BEHOLD! [link] to the rescue!
According to [link] (check it out! cool website! Despite the stupid software they suggest to use that only scans-not removes-the viruses and spyware! ARGH!) My poor innocent sweet (much like myself) computer is :

So I proceeded to do what any other amatuer techie would do...
Burst into tears!
I downloaded and used the software (PestTrap & MalwareWipe) suggested by the site BUT its freeware only SCANS! Not remove or protect!
Not cool.
Pest Trap actually claims to detect a total of 140 viruses+spyware in my comp!!!
I am now seriously weighing my options of what to do.
1) Continue to struggle against the evil forces of these viruses and spyware with the freeware I download off the net?
2) Bring my baby to the computer experts to clean up?
3) Buy a couple of system cleaners/anti-virus (PestTrap?) to do the job myself?
Yeah.
I have just spent the last 6 hours fighting some man made computer virus intended to drive me mad for their evil amusement.
How was yours?
